Wow! Summer has certainly arrived in full force in Southern Cali this past week! For many of us, the 4th of July weekend marks the official start of summer. And with summer comes weddings! And bridal showers! And parties galore! :)
This invitation suite holds a “sweet” spot (hardy har har) in my heart for two reasons: 1) I’m the hostess! and 2) the Bride is one of my very best friends. As it reads on the invitation, the Bride, Dana, loves to bake so that was the first glimmer of inspiration for this project. I wanted the feel of the invitations and the upcoming celebration to be summery, girly and well, sweet.
Both of us are HUGE fans of anything striped, so I also knew I wanted to incorporate that into the invitation design. The stripes also brought to mind images of the striped awnings that often adorn the fronts of the cutest bakeries. I chose a color palette of lemon drop yellow, lavender and lime green, which quickly made me think of lemon and lavender cookies and key lime tarts… mmmmm…I got hungry a lot while crafting these. Seriously.
I also knew that baker’s twine would need to be involved somehow (hello – baking, stripes… duh!) and I wanted the invitation to pay homage to a box of baked goods and all the yummies that await inside. I found the pocket enclosures online at Paper Presentation and thought that their lemon drop color and sweet scalloped edge fit the bill perfectly. Of course, I had to include recipe cards for all the ladies to share their favorite recipes with the Bride.
As a finishing touch, a matching striped wraparound address label wrapped everything together.
Stay tuned for pics from the bridal shower itself next week!
